The back-end is everything happening behind the scenes: where data gets stored, how logic gets processed, how the system decides what a user is allowed to see or do. A web app can look polished on the front-end and still fail if the back-end logic is poorly built — slow database queries, insecure data handling, or business rules that don’t actually match how your process works.
